My Mother's Day Gift

I had been wanting a coffee table for so long, every one i liked was either way to much money or too big for our living room, Javier promised that he could make me a great table to match the sofa table i already had and loved. He came through on his promise and made me a gorgeous table, the color that i loved and distressed it so it looks so neat. It took him about two months just working on it at nights when he had time and it was so worth the wait! Thanks Javier, you continue to amaze me with your talents:)

BABY SHOWER FOR MY FRIEND JESS

A couple months ago, i helped throw a baby shower for my friend and neighbor Jess, i teamed up with her friend Natasha and we were able to come up with a cute little shower for her. She has two little girls already and is now having a boy! Jess is from Florida and is terribly homesick, she loves the ocean and beach so we figured that would be the perfect theme for a baby boy shower! Everything came together perfectly, it looked awesome and everyone enjoyed the shower. The food was great and the decor was so cute. Jess said she loved and appreciated the shower so thats what mattered the most!

I found instructions online to make sailboat cupcake toppers and they turned out perfectly. Then there is my Caprese Skewers with balsalmic drizzle (thats tomato, basil and mozzerella:)

I was able to find alot of decorations that went with the theme and i love how it turned out! Thats my fruit kebobs with fruit dip, my mini chinese chicken salads in wonton cups, and Natasha's Tortilla spirals, yum!

So Tball is here again! Gavin is having a blast...his Uncle Sergio and Javier are coaching this year which has been pretty neat. Gavin has become the self appointed bat boy for his tball team, he loves it and i think he is dreaming of being a bat boy for the Chukars one day:)

Gavin's 4th Birthday

I cannot believe that my little boy is 4 years old! It seems like yesterday that i was pregnant and looking forward to the day when i could actually meet him. He is such a blessing in our lives and i couldn't imagine what life would be like without him. He is growing up to be such a sweet and bright boy. We look forward to the years to come but wish that time could slow down a little bit!

On Sunday, the 27th, we had Gavin's Birthday Party at "Idaho Falls Gymnastics Training Center", it was the perfect place to have all of Gavin's friends and family join in the celebration! We had pizza and cake, a spiderman pinata and lots of time to run and play on the trampolines and the foam pit! They had a blast!

While we were up at Hiese Hot Springs, we decided to go on up to Kelly Canyon to take a look. Gavin was mesmerized by the skiers and snowboarders going down the hill so fast. I think we will have to get him up there to try it out before all the snow is gone for the year!

I got up early to make a Birthday breakfast for the Birthday Boy before Preschool this morning. Eggs, sausage, and star and puppy pancakes made complete with candles to blow out after one more singing of "Happy Birthday" for the year:)

After Preschool we drove up to Hiese Hot Springs, had pizza for lunch next to the cozy fire and then played in the warm swimming pool for a couple hours. It was a great way to relax as a family and enjoy our little boy and his birthday.

Javier and Gavin woke me up with a Little Mermaid Cake and Birthday day cards that made me cry...Javier had to work so Gavin and i hung out with two of our friends and their kids...they surprised me with a pedicure that they scheduled for me and they took care of Gavin while i was gone! So awesome! Gavin and i went to lunch, did a little bday shopping and then i dropped Gavin off at Grandma Connie's and went to work for two hours. After work, Javier and i came home and made those amazing California rolls for dinner! They were so simple and delicious! Had a quiet and relaxing time at home before we had to go pick Gavin up and the day was over...it was the perfect day and now i get to look forward to turning THIRTY!!!! Scary!

Trucks are definitely for boys...about half way through the Monster Truck Races i was kinda thinking that i could have stayed home and it would have been an awesome outing for Dad and Son. I like seeing Gavin's excitement and thats what its all about right? Javier took Gavin to the same event last year, he loved it, and talked about it all year so we decided to take him again. He slept all the way to Pocatello and we never told him where we were going so he was surprised when he woke up and ended up having a blast. I think next year mom is gonna stay home and let the boys go see the trucks:)

The Rodeo was alot of fun. I didn't get any good pictures of anything really, everything was moving so fast and i am not a photographer:( I think Gavin's favorite part was waving at the pretty girls on the horses at the end of the Rodeo, I think Javier liked it too. Overall, it was a great activity to do as a family and i enjoyed spending time with my two boys.

We had a good time on Friday at the PlayGroup Easter Egg Hunt...it was pretty cold out but since it wasn't snowing we went ahead with it. Gavin found about 10 eggs then gave up and decided it was more fun to jump on the trampoline by himself! He loves those trampolines!

Its so awesome to be able to teach Gavin something so important, to have him retain it and repeat it to me out of the blue like he did earlier today (i had to make him say it for the video, or course:)...he sees the commercials on tv about the Easter Bunny and Easter Baskets, which of course he will get too, but i want him to know the truth and the reason we celebrate such an important holiday. Even though he doesn't fully comprehend the meaning of what he is saying, it makes me proud that he tries so hard and i know that one day he will understand.

On Saturday Grandma Colleen and I took Gavin and Christian to the Art Museum for "Kids Day". They had a fun "sand art" project for the kids to do, puzzles, learning toys and different activites for the kids to take part in. The boys had a great time, it was nice to get out of the house and let them experience something new and different.

Morris was a good dog, he was adorable, loving, funny, hyper active, and such a cuddler. We miss him so much...we never realized how attatched to this dog we really were untill he was suddenly taken from us on March 2nd. I dont know if dogs go to heaven or not but i would like to think that there is a special place for him since the Lord created him just like he created us. We wish we could have had more days with Morris but everything happens for a reason and we are trusting that the Lord will comfort us while we deal with the loss of our beloved puppy. We love you Morris and will never forget the joy you brought to our lives over the past 5 years.

Morris was Gavin's buddy from day one...he was never jealous, always kind to Gavin and seemed to like being somewhat tortured by Gavin who didn't know any better.

When i was pregnant with Gavin I think Morris sensed that something was going on because he became so clingy and just wanted to cuddle with me all of the time. I miss those days.

Right before Gavin was born we dressed Morris up like a baby, he seemed to like it:)He was up for anything as long as we were paying attention to him.

This was Morris' first long car trip to Preston to see my Dad, he loved being in the car, i wish now that we would have taken him for more rides.

March 1st, a full day of fun!

For Gavin's actual Birth Day, March 1st, Javier and i took the day off work to spend it together which was such a blast! We went to "Heise Hot Springs" to swim in the heated pool and hot tub. Then after that we went to "Leo's Place" to have dinner, play games and let Gavin go wild on the indoor playground, it was so much fun and wonderful to have the whole day to spend together! The day was perfect, so fitting since it was the perfect little boys 3rd Birthday!

We didn't do too much for New Years Eve this year. Javier, Gavin and myself had Chinese food for dinner, like we did last New Years Eve, so i think thats our new tradition. We visited with Javier parents for a bit at their house then came home and got Gavin to bed...by eleven, then we watched the ball drop and went to bed:) We felt like old people...but it felt really good just to be home with our family and to be able to enjoy eachother without so much going on.

I made breakfast this morning, as our first meal of 2010 I made mini bacon and cheese omelets and my version of a potato pancake, served with Holandaise Sauce (Javier's new favorite thing)! Yum! I am not sure if anyone cares to know or see a picture of what we ate...haha...but i love food and cooking so its always exciting to me:)

I pray that the Lord will keep all my friends and family safe this year so we can enjoy another year of this thing called "life" together!

P.S. My little boy turns THREE YEARS OLD in exactly two months from today, almost
time to start planning his BDay party:)

We had a great Christmas this year. It was so much fun to see Gavin's excitement as he discovered that Santa had left presents under the tree for him. He loved all of his gifts and i appreciated it very much too. We went to Christmas party at Javier's Uncles house on Christmas Eve, then to his parent's house Christmas morning and then my family came to our house for lunch and to open gifts. It was nice to spend time with family and play with all of the new toys. I just now feel like i am catching up on my sleep and getting Gavin back on schedule after staying up so late those days and missing out on naps. I am looking forward to 2010 now and hope its a great year for all of my friends and family too! I didn't get very many good pictures because there was so much going on but here are a few...

There was a Christmas exhibit that we went to see then we let the kids play for awhile, they had a blast. Wow, I can't believe that Thanksgiving came and went so fast this year. We had a great Thanksgiving, dinner was actually at my house this year! I am not taking credit for much though, just Greenbean Casserole and a cheesecake, my Mom and Grandma did everything else. They both cooked a turkey and Grandma did a ham also...there was so much food that we could have fed another 20 people! Everything was delicious and i think we were all about to pop by the time we were done, but we had a nice time visiting and watching the kids play.

I am very thankful for all that we have been blessed with and not just "things", but for the people in my life and the relationships i have with them. The relationship that i have with Jesus is the MOST important thing of all...the fact that he died on the cross for me is just amazing...all i have to do is accept that gift, nothing more and nothing less. The knowledge and belief in Jesus' love and his death and ressurection would be number one on the list of things i am thankful for and next would be my wonderful husband and son...they make my life awesome. Then of course my friends and family who all hold a special place in my heart. I have much so much to be thankful for:)

Javier surprised me lastnight with dinner at our favorite Sushi place, Blue Hashi, it was so delicious! I need to learn to make California Rolls really soon because we can't afford to eat there whenever feel like it, it was worth the money though and sooooo nice to be able to sit down and eat dinner with Javier, just the two of us.

I had read this book and loved it...i would recommend it to anyone. Really entertaining and just a good love story with twists.

I had never really read a book and then watched the motion picture, the movie was good but kinda annoying since they leave so much of the detail out from the book. Javier actually really liked the movie and we had a great evening together, thankyou honey for the wonderful night!

The Harvest Party at Church was awesome this year...Gavin really enjoyed it and understood it much more this year than last. Each classroom had one or two games for the kids and after each game you got to grab a handful of candy from a bucket...so he walked out of there with a ton of candy and a big smile on his face:)

I don't remember what this game was called but he had fun pounding a nail into a log...thank goodness he has great coordination...no injuries!

Gavin with a golfclub in hand is dangerous...i was worried he was going to hit that lady!

He wouldn't give up on this one untill he landed a ring on one of those bottles...his prize was a can of rootbeer:)

This was my favorite game of all...i guess the point was to see if you could hit Goliath in the head.

This was taken at Melaleuca...Javier's mom invited us to come trick or treating where she works. Gavin had a blast walking around the building collecting candy and seeing the sights...each department was decorated in a different theme and he loved everyone else in their costumes.

Javier has been sick all weekend so we have been cooped up in the house...it was hard trying to keep Gavin away from Javier and occupied at the same time. Grandma Colleen offered to take Gavin for a few hours this afternoon which was a nice little break for me! She walked Gavin down to Kate Curley Park to play and baked cookies with him. He had alot of fun and she said he behaved really well so it was a good time for all!

I finally go to have a "Girls Night" with my two best friends from Highschool, Angie and Sherri. We hung out at Angie's house, had dinner and played a couple board games. It was alot of fun talking about the old times and how much fun we had when we were younger and how different our lives are now! We need to have "girls night" ALOT more often.

Lastnight, i had to bribe Gavin by telling him that i would take him to run the bases if he slept in his bed all night, without coming into mommy and daddy's bed. It worked! I just wanted to say "Happy Birthday" to Javier, he turns 29 years old today! Only one year away from the big 30! I love him sooooo much, he is a great husband and father to Gavin and I am so lucky to have him. I wish I could give him anything and everything that he might want for his birthday because there is no doubt that he deserves it. I hope he knows how much i love him and that i love him more and more everyday. I know i don't brag about him as much as i should, considering i have one of the greatest guys ever. Here are some things that i love about him, theres nothing like a little embarassement on your Birthday:)...he will love me for it.

1. I love his legs:)

2. I love how he lets me play with his ears for a while before he gets annoyed.

3. I love how he knows a little about everything.(his brain is like a sponge)

4. I love how he works so hard for his family, even though he doesn't love his job.

5. I love how "big" he is, he is like my big teddy bear.

6. I love that he loves me for who I am.

7. I love his brown eyes.

8. I love how he LOVES my cooking and appreciates my effort even when something doesn't turn out exactly right.

9. I love that he strives to be a better man, father, and husband(even though he is wonderful already).

10. I love how he can always make me laugh even when i don't want to.

I know 29 is not "old" by any means but i like the fact that we are married and we WILL grown OLD together...thats not scary to me, its exciting. I like to imagine what our life will be like in the years to come, as we get older and our family grows and we share many more birthdays together. I love you honey...I hope you know just how much. So we made it to the Fair again Saturday night! We took Gavin to the Demolition Derby, he was mesmerized by all of the junkers crashing into eachother. I wouldn't have been there if I didn't have Gavin but it was fun to see his reaction and Javier enjoyed it of course. We walked around and ate after the Derby was over and Gavin spotted a game that involved throwing a baseball so we had to spend some time there letting him throw the ball. We had a good time and are looking forward to the Fair next year!

Gavin made a new friend lastnight at the baseball game. He didn't even mind Charlie the Chuckar holding him, we thought it was so funny.

When the game was over they let all of the kids in the stands go down and run the bases, Gavin was in Heaven even though it was kind of like The Running of the Bulls with so many kids! He had a blast.

This was so cute!!!! Charlie kissed Gavin then Gavin kissed Charlie, he thought it was hilarious. I loved how Charlie gives him a thumbs up and you can see Gavin do it back to Charlie.

Well, we finally made it to the Oregon coast to visit my Dad and the rest of the family. My Dad didn't know we were coming so that made it even better! We had a great time visiting different beaches along the coast, going to see the sea lions in Newport and playing on the beach at "D River" where the water running into the ocean was so nice and warm. Javier and I also celebrated our First Anniversary on the 30th of August...it was so nice to be somewhere so beautiful and to enjoy eachother in a new and fun enviornment. Dad and Susan watched Gavin for us for a few hours on Sunday so we could go have a nice dinner and spend some time alone together. We loved it.

Reading "Froggy Book"

Gavin's favorite book is called "Froggy Plays T-Ball"...I have to read it to him at least a couple times a day and always before he goes to bed. The other day he started "reading" it to me and i realized just how much of it he actually absorbs when i read it to him. Some of the lines he gets word for word...its pretty cute.

Jackie and Christian moved to Boise last saturday so on Friday night i took Gavin over to say "goodbye". The kids didn't really know what was going on, i was the one that was sad because now Gavin's only cousin is four hours away. They loved playing together and i look forward to them being able to play together again soon. We love you Christian! We wish the best for Jackie and Christian as they start their life in Boise. We will miss you!

3rd Haircut!

Gavin's hair was getting kinda shaggy and its been so hot lately that i decided he needed another haircut...he did so well! He actually sat in the chair all by himself, last time he sat on my lap, he is such a big boy now. Lately he has been sticking his tongue out when he tries not to smile, so of course every single picture i got of him, his tongue is sticking out of his mouth!

These pics are from when Javier went to a UFC fight in Las Vegas. I didn't get to go (which i wasn't sad about) but he had an awesome time there. I went to a friend's house to watch the fight live on tv and actually saw Javier (couldn't miss him in the Pink shirt:) on tv which was pretty cool. This post is for Javier and its just meant to bring back some good memories for him. Love you Honey!

The Zoo

My Mom, my Grandma and I took Gavin and Christian to the zoo today. It was really fun to see the kids get so excited to see some of the animals, last year they really didn't notice the animals too much so it wasn't as fun. Other than Gavin's 10 minute "Meltdown" at the petting zoo we had a really nice time enjoying the zoo and eachother!

I will admit that sometimes (like yesterday) i am a brat and i get annoyed with the amount of time that Javier spends on outside projects, like the lawn and the landscaping on his day off. All of his hard work is paying off now that our yard is nice and green and everything is blooming and i get to enjoy the fruits of his labor. I am proud that i have a husband who takes pride in his home and takes care of his things. He wants us to live in a nice home and he puts in alot of time and effort to make sure of that...so when i put my annoyances aside it makes me thankful that i have such a great husband and provider, and of course a beautiful lawn! Thanks Honey!

I have pretty much a black thumb when it comes to growing things, but i am proud to say that i planted these "chicks and hens" that my Grandma gave me and they are still alive! (i didn't mention the fact that i think these things could live in any condition and them still being alive really doesn't have much to do with me:)

Mexican Corn

One of the best things about summer, i think, is fresh corn on the cob! Believe it or not we bought this "mexican style" corn from a mexican family down the road from our house that were selling it out of the back of their van! They boil the corn then smother it with mayo, sprinkle it with chile powder and parmesan cheese! It was so delicious.
Gavin loved it too!

So, my mom invited me over for lunch the day before yesterday and told me that she was making "something good". I wasn't expecting Lobster! Lobster is my mom's most favorite thing to eat and obviously can't afford to eat lobster everyday so it was a great treat! I didn't realize it was so easy to prepare, we just cut the shell and broiled them in the oven for about ten minutes and ate it with melted butter of course! Delicious! I guess i should have taken a pic of the two of us together but i think we were too busy savoring every bite of our lunch!

Gavin hit the ball and when he went behind the t.v. to get it he saw a spider. I just thought his reaction was so cute, the way he stepped backwards so fast. Funny. As far as the HUGE batting helmet goes...he insists on wearing it.

BACKYARD SMORES

ONE OF THE BEST THINGS ABOUT HAVING A CHILD IS THAT YOU, AS THE PARENT, GET TO EXPERIENCE EVERYTHING ALL OVER AGAIN AS IF IT WERE THE FIRST TIME. LASTNIGHT WE SET UP A FIRE PIT AND ENJOYED SMORES TOGETHER. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN! GAVIN DIDN'T SEEM TO LIKE THE SMORE WHEN IT WAS ASSEMBLED BUT HE LIKED ROASTING THE MARSHMALLOWS AND ATE ABOUT A WHOLE HERSHEYS BAR BY HIMSELF(NOT A SMART THING TO DO AT 10 PM). WE HAD ALOT OF FUN AND IT WAS GREAT THAT WE DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TO LEAVE THE HOUSE:)

I can't believe that the Fourth of July has come and gone already...it just reminds me that summer is not going to last forever. We had an awesome fourth filled with lots of fun and sun! It has been quite awhile since Javier,myself and Gavin have spent a whole day together doing anything, due to Javier's crazy work schedule, but we definitley did yesterday and it was so nice. We woke up and went to watch the parade, usually we just stand on the sidewalk somewhere near 4th street but we decided to go down to Tauphus Park this time and we were soooo glad that we did. We didn't feel like we were packed inbetween 1500 people standing on the hot pavement of the sidewalk, instead we got to relax on the nice cool grass and watch the parade. I think that will be our new spot from now on:)

Next we went downtown to walk through the Farmer's Market along the river...it was such a beautiful morning and was so nice to enjoy the sights and sounds of summer. I bought some fresh herbs(they have the best Garlic Chives there) and we ate some fresh roasted corn on the cob and homemade carne asada tacos from one of the venders there, it was so delicious! Javier and i have noticed that corn on the cob is the one thing that Gavin will actually sit down and eat untill it is all gone, he was in heaven chowing down on his own cob of corn! Thats when i realized that i didn't bring my camera and i was kicking myself for it!

From the Farmers Market we walked downtown where they had a "festival" going on...tons more food, games, live music, and all sorts of fun stuff. We were there for a couple hours, i got a nice sunburn and then we were on to a family bbq.

At three o clock we went to Javier's cousin Raquel's house for dinner...more yummy Carne Asada tacos and everything else you can imagine to eat. Gavin got to play with his cousins that he doesn't get to see too often and it ended up really a really nice time. Javier's family said goodbye to his cousin who joined the army and is leaving on Monday...he is the first person from Javier's family to ever join the military or any armed forces, so they were very proud and emotional as you can imagine.

At 6:30 we headed over to the Chuckars baseball game! Gavin was in Heaven once again! With his little Yankees jersey on he was rooting for the yankees untill we told him who the team was and then he rooted for the home team the Chuckars:)

At Ten o clock the Fireworks started at the river and they were amazing once again...i really think they get better each year. It was so fun to see Gavin watch them in wonder, it just reminds me of when i was a kid, when things were new and so much fun. The show lasted 30 minutes and a couple minutes after that Gavin figured the fun was over and konked out in the stroller as we walked back to our car to go home.

The day was awesome...i wish we had days like that more often. I am exhasted today and dealing with my sunburn but it was well worth it to have such great time spent with my little family. Hope everyone had as great of a Fourth of July as we did!

Happy Father's Day to Javier! I couldn't ask for a better Dad for Gavin. He spends as much time with Gavin as he can...teaching his baseball and taking him to do fun things. It is so awesome to watch Gavin get older and look up to his daddy, i know that he will grow up to be a great guy just like his Dad. Javier...We love you so much, honey, thankyou for providing for us and always being there for us. We love you more than you'll ever know!

Sunday Night Rides

We took Gavin to the little "Fair Rides" that were set up in a parking lot here in town. He had a blast...I guess it was worth the $2.00 a ticket! Its a good thing each ride was only one ticket.

So, i was laying in bed this morning and hadn't heard Gavin cry for me to come get him out of his crib like he usually does. The next thing i know, my bedroom door opened and in walks Gavin! He climbed out of his crib a couple times this week, so i decided to get a video of him doing it...i didn't realize it was so easy for him! He has obviously got the technique down by now!

Gavin played basketball tonight while he was watching the Bulls game with his Dad. He actually made a basket! I was so proud:) He gets so excited when he sees sports on TV, he jumps and runs around and tries to immitate the players, its very funny. He gets it from watching his dad and two uncles watch sports.

Well, the 23rd of April was my 28th Birthday!!!!! I had a great day just spent with family. I woke up to Javier holding a breakfast in bed tray with a dozen roses and cheesecake...yes...at 7 in the morning and two very sweet bday cards from my son and hubby. I made a nice breakfast of "Eggs Benedict" for us and then we headed to the mall so i could pick out my present (better that way), so i got some summer clothes that i needed. I went to lunch with my Mom and Grandma and then later to dinner with Javier. It was a nice birthday...i am only two years from thirty now and that kinda freaks me out.

Easter Day

We had a great Easter Sunday...we started by going to church in the morning and had my family and Javier's family over for a bbq. We hid eggs in the backyard for the two boys, it was a blast to watch them hunt for the eggs and enjoy the treats that were inside. The weather was beautiful, we couldn't have asked for a better day to celebrate Jesus' death and resurection.

It was impossible to get these two to smile at the same time!

Spider Web Eggs

I was looking online this morning for some ideas on coloring Easter Egss and i came across this really neat method of dying eggs AFTER you gently crack the shell. After you let the eggs soak and peel the colored shells you get amazingly beautiful eggs that looked like they are covered in colorful spider webs. I had to try it and I was amazed...Gavin thought they were pretty delicious too!

Aren't they pretty neat? I let mine soak for about 2 hours but i am assuming they would be darker if you let them go longer.

The shells were just as pretty as the eggs themselves.

I am happy that Gavin is learning both Languages, when he is at Grandma and Grandpa's house they speak to him mostly in Spanish and we (well mostly Javier:) try to work on counting and names of body parts and things like that at home. He is doing really well for just turning two years old.

Veggie Tales are Christian based cartoon characters, they are cute little vegetables...they teach children about morals and Bible teachings in a fun and entertaining way. My dad and Susan sent Gavin this one for Christmas and He is completely in love with the Veggie Tales now. I guess if he is going to be addicted to a cartoon, this is a good one!

Brownie Batter and a Bruise

We had fun yesterday by making brownies, Gavin loves to help me use the hand mixer, he keeps saying "I cook" . He likes helping me in the kitchen.
Notice the bruise and goose egg on his forhead, he fell smacked his head on the corner of his crib! I guess he was due for something because it had been quite a while since he had a bruise on his head:(

I just thought this was kind of cute...you can see his big boy haircut really well here...we went to a salon and had it cut, i was sure he wasn't going to go through with it and actually let a stranger cut his hair but he did. He didn't cry or whine at all, i was so proud of him.

Gavin's Elmo "cupcake cake" was so cute...no i didn't make it.
I think he was remembering lastyear and how we encouraged him to dive into the cake.

He actually got two of these basketball hoops...he has so much fun with it, he thinks he's a real basketball player from watching it with Dad all the time.

Javier and I got this little buggy/car for him...he stays in it half the day! The next day i had to feed him breakfast and lunch while he was sitting in there, whatever works, right?

This was a few weeks ago, but we went down to Red Lobster in Pocatello to have dinner with Sherri, Chris,Chloe,Carter,Angie and Joey. We have been friends for so long but believe it or not we had never done something with all three of the husbands there! We had a nice dinner and time to visit, but we need to do it more often!
